Zero Tolerance

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive members on Panoptik. This is not a preference — it is a term of the agreement you accept when you create an account or join on a guest pass.

Do not upload or share content that is sexually explicit, violent, hateful, harassing, discriminatory, or illegal, or that depicts someone without their consent. Do not use Panoptik to bully, threaten, impersonate, stalk, exploit, or endanger anyone.

Accounts that break these rules are removed from Panoptik permanently.

Nothing Is Visible While An Event Runs

The first protection in Panoptik is structural rather than editorial. While an event is running, no clip in it is visible to anyone — not the other members, not the event creator, not Panoptik’s operator. This is enforced by server-side database and storage rules, so a modified app cannot read a locked clip either.

There is no public feed, no discovery, no public profiles, and no way for a stranger to come across your content. A clip is only ever visible to the members of the one event it was recorded in, and only after that event has ended.

That is a smaller exposure than a public app, but it is not a guarantee about what someone in your event may record. The reporting, blocking, and enforcement below exist for that.

Reporting

Any member can report a clip or another member from inside the app. Open the clip or the member row, choose Report, pick a reason — inappropriate content, harassment, spam, or other — and add detail if you want to.

A report alerts an on-call moderator immediately. You do not need to email anyone, and you do not need to be the person the content is about.

If you cannot use the app, or you are not a Panoptik member, email support@panoptikapp.com with enough detail to locate the content.

Our 24-Hour Commitment

Every report of objectionable content is reviewed and acted on within 24 hours of being filed. This is a published commitment, not a target.

Acting on a report means reviewing the evidence and then doing one of these: dismissing it with a recorded reason, removing the reported content, removing the member from the event and blocking their return, or suspending or permanently terminating the account.

Reports involving sexual content that involves minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or a credible threat of violence are escalated ahead of everything else and are actioned immediately on receipt.

Blocking

You do not have to file a report to protect yourself. Any member can block any other member at any time, from a clip or from the event roster.

Blocking is symmetric and immediate: it hides that person from you, hides you from them, and prevents further contact through the service.

Blocked accounts are listed in Settings, where you can review or undo them.

What an Event Creator Can Do

The creator of an event can remove any member from it. A removed member loses access and cannot rejoin using the join code.

The creator can regenerate the join code, which invalidates the old one at once, or revoke it entirely so that nobody new can join.

The creator can delete the whole event, which deletes its clips and films for every member.

Any member can leave an event, block another member, or report a clip. Removing one specific clip is done by a moderator in response to a report, or by deleting your account, which removes every clip you uploaded.

How Review Works

Panoptik does not watch member clips. The vault is closed by server-side rules, and no operator can browse it.

A moderator can open a specific piece of reported media only after a report exists, and only through an access link that expires within minutes.

Moderator roles are deliberately narrow. A reviewer can dismiss a report or remove the reported media. An enforcer can additionally eject a member or suspend an account. Only an administrator can reinstate an account, which keeps appeal decisions separate from the enforcement that prompted them.

Every claim, decision, removal, suspension, and reinstatement is written to an audit trail with the reason and the person responsible. Those records cannot be edited after the fact.

Suspension and Appeals

If your account is suspended, the app tells you that it has been suspended and why.

You can appeal through the app, or by emailing support@panoptikapp.com. An appeal is reviewed by someone other than the moderator who made the original decision, and only an administrator can reinstate an account.

We will tell you the outcome. Suspensions for sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or credible threats of violence are permanent.

If You Appear in a Clip and Are Not a Member

You do not need a Panoptik account to ask for content to be removed. Email support@panoptikapp.com with enough information to locate the event or clip, and we will review it.

Requests involving intimate imagery are handled on the priority timeline set out in our Terms: removal as soon as possible and in any case within 48 hours of a valid request, a reference number, reasonable efforts to find identical copies, and a reply telling you what happened.

Most Panoptik content is deleted automatically 14 days after an event ends.

Recording Responsibly

Never record while driving, operating machinery, or anywhere recording would be unsafe or unlawful. Capture prompts are always optional, and a missed prompt costs you nothing.

You are responsible for obtaining any consent the law requires from people who appear in or can be heard in your clips. Some jurisdictions, including California, require every party to consent before certain private conversations are recorded.

Emergencies

Panoptik support is not an emergency service and is not monitored continuously for emergencies. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
